    Alex’s Wedding: Part I - The Jewellery

    Alex’s Wedding: Part I
    The Jewellery

Recently married in the beautiful Byron Bay Hinterland, Natasha Schweitzer’s Co-Founder and Director Alexandra took a moment to discuss her wedding look. While she typically dedicates her days in our Head Office overseeing production and operations of the company, creating her own wedding jewellery proved to be her most intimate project yet.

You are surrounded by diamonds all day with endless choices. What was your process in selecting pieces for your special day?

I’m not going to lie, it was very difficult to select my wedding jewellery. Obviously, I am in a very unique position within the industry, so I felt lucky to be overwhelmed with choice. I must have changed my mind a million times. At the end of the day, I wanted pieces that were timeless, wearable and that I could pass down to future generations. The importance of selecting elegant and wearable pieces was paramount when designing my wedding jewellery.

“It was really important that these sentimental pieces could be re-worn time and time again. Jewellery is like a memory, every time I put these pieces back on I remember this special day.”

Talk us through your look. What look were you hoping to achieve overall for the day?

When I was selecting my wedding jewellery, I first took into consideration how I was going to wear my hair, and of course, my dress. This played heavily into how I designed and balanced my wedding jewellery pieces. Overall, I was hoping to achieve a timeless and elegant look, however something that felt true to my personal style.

Which necklace did you opt for?

As my dress was strapless, I wanted my necklace to be the hero piece. When I was starting to design my wedding necklace I looked through my mother’s archive jewellery box and I actually stumbled across my old omega necklace that I wore when I was 5 years old. When I saw it, I knew it was the one. I wore the same exact necklace on the day. It was the perfect choice as it was sentimental, and I was able to reinvent it to align more closely with my current style.

I really wanted to add a pendant onto the loop of the omega, as I felt it elevated the design so beautifully. When exploring my options, I was deciding between an emerald-shaped green emerald pendant and a pear-shaped diamond. I did opt for the pear diamond as I felt the shape complimented the neckline of my dress.

Talk to us about your stunning layered diamond earring look…

When I was selecting my wedding earrings, I knew I wanted a layered look, as I do have three piercings and have always personally loved to layer earrings in my day-to-day life. At the time of the wedding, we were in the process of designing the Georgie Earrings and I absolutely fell in love with them.

I wore the 5 Diamond Georgie earrings with the round diamond drop as my first earring, followed by the 3 Diamond Georgie earrings in my second and third piercings. While they are a classic and elegant design, when stacked - they had more of an edgy and fun look, which I felt really aligned with me. They are also so wearable, I have worn these almost every day since the wedding.

    Tell us about your rings...

I know this is going to sound crazy, however I did change my wedding band two days before the wedding…I had originally designed a diamond band that followed the shape of my engagement ring, however I just didn’t feel like it was me. I opted to go for a plain gold band that sits underneath my engagement ring. However, I did still want to include some diamonds, so opted for a 40pt Oval Diamond Half band on my right-hand ring finger.

I designed and crafted my engagement ring alongside my mother, which was incredibly special to me. The design features a marquise diamond framed in a gold curved band, and finally was finished with a very special hidden touch - a 0.05ct diamond on the inner curvature of the band.

"I designed and crafted my engagement ring alongside my mother, which was incredibly special to me."
